Welcome to a new school year. I look forward to teaching your child the wonders of Science. As with any successful year, knowledge and preparation ensure an excellent start. I have provided information below on student expectations and guidelines that every student is to follow. It is so important that we communicate to provide a successful year for your child. Course Description
Sixth grade science will address the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) through the following strands:
Student Outcome
Students will become more critical and analytical thinkers as they participate in the various activities and processes in this class. The goal is for students to become independent and critical thinkers.
Attendance – Prompt and regular attendance is expected. Students who are absent are responsible for asking the teacher for their missed work. Students are responsible for completing and turning in any missing assignments as soon as possible to receive credit.
* Severe offenses will be referred to the assistant principal immediately!
**Violation of Lab Safety Rules results in immediate removal from lab **

- Force, motion, and energy

- Bell Policy – Please be in your seat when the bell rings. Dismissal bell does not dismiss you….I do, so do not get up out of your chair when the bell rings.
- No Gum/Food – You are allowed a water bottle in class.
- Grading Policy - Tests/Projects 60%. Daily work, homework, quizzes, and problems of the day 40%
- Classroom Rules · Be on time to class. · Be prepared with all the necessary materials to be successful in class. · Be RESPECTFUL to others and their property. · Raise your hand if you wish to be acknowledged. · Have your Electronic Devices turned off and in your backpack. · Follow school and district rules.

- 1st Offense: Warning-Redirect; Document on eSchool
- 2nd Offense: Teacher/Student Conference; Parent Notification; Document on eSchool
- 3rd Offense: Team ITS/Counselor Referral; Document on eSchools
- 4th Offense: Team/Parent Conference; Document on eSchools
- 5th Offense: Office Referral; Document on eSchools
